For about a month now, I've heard some horrendous screeching along the lake. This morning, I met the source. It is a cockatoo. He is scared of Elwood, but quite calm with me. He (or she) obviously was once someone's pet. He seems to be surviving okay, even with the cold.
It is not unusual to get a cold spell or two here during the winter, but I don't think this cockatoo was used to it. He seemed to be trying to roost with all of the egrets, but I am not sure things were working out for him. After awhile I never saw him anymore. I was hoping that maybe he went down to Miami, he would have been fine there.

They survive well in the wild here in the UK (in the surrey area) usually in flocks. :o))
